Judah Joseph was a precious son and brother whose short life will change ours forever. He passed at Jim Pattison Children’s Hospital in Saskatoon, surrounded by the overflowing love of God and family.
He was the youngest child of Jordan and Rebecca Simonson, and little brother to “Princess”Haven, Amariah the “Wolfie”, “Loose Tooth” Luke, and William or as he prefers, just “Bill.” He was a sweet visual blend of his siblings, with bright eyes that seemed ready to catch up with his brothers and sisters quickly. To William, he was “Keke” (kee-kee). At home, he was everyone’s “Bubbie.”
His mother shares that Judah was often comforted by the hymn “Jesus Loves Me,” sung as “Jesus loves YOU…”
And, we love you too, Judah.
What remains with us most is the faith his life called forth in his mother and father. Rebecca receives all things as God’s perfect will. In Judah’s final days, she believed he still had work to do here; while it seems that work lasted two days, we do not believe it will be insignificant. Through his sickness, he showed a tough little spirit, and through his passing, he became a sign of steady trust in God.
His name will always carry meaning: Judah (from the Hebrew Yehudah) means “praise & thanksgiving.” We praise God for his life, and we give thanks for the love he brought.
Judah is cherished by grandparents Donna Simonson, Tessa and Lou Perdue; Jeffery and Sherry Manny; and by 50 aunts, uncles, and cousins, and numerous extended family and friends. We believe he joins Grandma Helen and Grandpa Tom Simonson in the most beautiful embrace, pure as he is…and full of light.
